This is a real solid bronze hand-crafted antique finish pendant. The bronze pendant features the rune Teiwaz which was named after god Tyr or Tiw in Norse. The legendary Norse warrior Tyr lost his hand in a battle with a giant wolf Fenris while fighting to save his people. God Tyr is featured on the backside of the pendant.
Tiwaz is the rune of the balance and justice ruled from a higher rationality. The meanings of Tiwaz or Teiwaz are sound leadership, victory in battle, success in competition and personal sacrifice. Also Tuesday is named after Tiw. Tiwaz runic number is 17.
Runes are a Norse alphabet developed around 200 BCE, from characters used for magical purposes. According to Norse myth, the alphabet was discovered in a vision by the god Odin as he hung upside down and wounded for nine days on the World Tree Yggdrasil. There are three commonly known runic alphabets: the ‘elder’ and ‘younger’ Futhark (futhark being the transliteration of the first few letters of that alphabet), the Anglo-Saxon futhork, and the Danish ‘short twig’ or script alphabet.
Pendant size is 3/4" inches or 18 mm, it comes on a waxed cotton cord decorated with bronze beads and bail.
Optionally, you can add the genuine handmade leather pouch stitched with a natural hemp cord. It makes a nice gift case for the pendant.

We can only make small engravings on some of the forged iron pendants.
For bronze and silver items it's best to clean with a polishing cloth or jewelry cleaner which will give them a shine. But for those who like a more authentic look and feel for their jewelry which develops patina overtime, there are really no special care instructions.
For forged iron items, it's a good idea to coat with a clear acrylic lacquer or wax to avoid rusting and keep off water as much as possible.
For leather items, it's also best to avoid prolonged contact with water because leather is a natural material and can deteriorate with time.
We currently don't offer gift wrapping or packaging, but some pendants and rings come with optional leather pouches.
